APHA/ApHC European Judges Seminar - May 5 - 9, 2010
The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) will
conduct the next APHA/ApHC European Judges Seminar May 5-9, 2010, at the Hotel
Barbarossa, in Dusseldorf, Germany. In addition to providing an excellent
educational opportunity for anyone interested in expanding their judging
knowledge, potential judge applicants will be able to test to become an approved
APHA European Judge and/or ApHC European Judge. The seminar will consist of two
and one-half days of classroom instruction on May 5-7, followed by two days of
testing for judge applicants May 8-9.
Seminar participants will attend sessions led by equine judging professionals
Joe Carter and Butch Carse. A variety of material will be covered, including the
current rule books and classes that include halter, Western pleasure, hunter
under saddle, Western riding, trail, showmanship, horsemanship, yearling longe
line, reining and working cow horse.
Each judge applicant is required to successfully complete a closed rule book
test, video and live judging, and an interview. Rule book and video testing will
be held on May 8. Live judging and interviews will be held on May 9. The video
and live judging portions of the seminar may include, but are not limited to:
halter, showmanship, horsemanship, hunt seat equitation, hunter under saddle,
Western pleasure, Western riding, trail and reining.
An applicant who receives a passing score on the tests, subject to APHA and/or
ApHC Judges’ Committee approval, will become an APHA and/or ApHC European Judge,
subject to all rules and regulations of the APHA and/or ApHC.
Registration Fees:
- The judge applicant seminar fee is 175 € payable upon arrival.
- The application fee for those interested in testing for the APHA European
Judges card is an additional 75 € to be included with the
Judges’ Application [link to file
judgeappeurope.pdf] and a current photo. The form and 75 € may be submitted upon
arrival at the seminar. Applicants must be current APHA members.
- The application fee for those interested in testing for the ApHC European
Judges card is an additional 75 € to be included with the Judges’ Application
form found on the
ApHC Web site
and a current photo. The form and 75 € may be submitted upon arrival at the
seminar. Applicants must be current ApHC members.
- APHA/ApHC European Judges are requested to attend the seminar, however are
not required to stay for the testing days. The seminar fee for approved
APHA/ApHC European Judges is 125 €.
- A lunch buffet and coffee breaks are offered for 40 € per day/per person,
dinner is offered ala carte in the hotel restaurant.
In conjunction with the Judges Seminar, a Show Management Seminar will be held
on May 5. The seminar will be held from 8:30 a.m. until noon. The price, which
includes a lunch buffet and a coffee break, is 40 €.
